    Description

This listing is for a 3 PIECE NEON ORANGE THOMEY SET.
IT CONTAINS AN AVERAGE SIZE 4-knot HALTER, 12 FOOT LEAD, AND 4 FOOT STICK.
These training aids are made from the highest quality double braided yachting cord and rope. If you want quality and durability, this is it! Details of each item below.
ITEM #1 = NEON ORANGE 4-knot HALTER ~ If bidder is familiar with C.A.'s halters, this one is identical 1/4" polyester yachting cord and tied to the same sizes. If not familiar with them, then please read on.
This halter comes in "average" size ONLY. Please see halter sizing instruction below. The average size fits the 900 to 1100 pound weight range.
(The Appendix horse wearing this "average" halter is approx. 1100 pounds, and stands 15.1 hands.)
This halter can be adjusted to fit individual horses by sliding the fiador knot up or down (see instructions below). It's design discourages horses from pulling and leaning against it by laying very comfortable on the horse when he doesn't pull. But it becomes somewhat uncomfortable when he does pull. Horses soon learn that yielding to pressure renders the "comfortable" feel. The halter's 4 nose band knots successfully communicate cues when lunging, leading, or flexing.
ITEM #2 = NEON ORANGE 12 FOOT LEAD ~ This is a matching NEON ORANGE 12 foot training lead rope. It is 9/16" EQ double braided yacht rope, made specifically with horse training in mind. Ideal for hand to horse training.
This lead has all the bells and whistles such as a 5 inch hand spliced and sewn loop for hardware, a heavy 4 1/4 inch brass bull snap, and a full 6 1/2 inch weighted end. The weighted end makes it so easy to spin and twirl, that even a beginner can do it. This lead offers a firm soft grip, heavy balanced weight, great authority when carrying a wiggle down the line, and a better feel than most training leads. The smallest of wiggle at one end easily carries the full length of this lead. This is the most important action any lead can offer.
Leads made from double braided polyester yacht rope are a favorite among many clinicians and horse enthusiast, cover them with a soft high twist polyester, and they are a favorite to everyone. Try one of these training leads and find out why they are so popular. If you want a lead that "HAS IT ALL" and may last for decades, you'll want to give this training lead a try.
This training lead was made with a lot of thoughtfulness and does an excellent job when training groundwork exercises. If you are looking for a tough heavy weight double braided polyester training lead, that has tons of feel and body, and feels soft to your hands, give this lead try.
ITEM #3 = 4 FOOT ORANGE TRAINING STICK ~ This is a (single) new ORANGE 4 foot professional horse training stick with a 6 foot lash and popper. It is designed and produced by Marvin Thomey who is known for the quality of his training sticks. This stick is more tapered out to the end than most carrot sticks or handy sticks making it lighter and easier to use. It is designed to reduce weight out at the end so it feels even lighter than it's approx. 8.7 ounces (11 oz. with lash). It is a solid one piece design made from heavy duty fiberglass that gives it great strength and firmness. We have used them for years and have never seen one break. It also sports a soft, but firm, 10 inch tapered brown soft rubber handle. Strings are easily attached and removed through the enlarged leather loop. Both ends of this training stick may be shown in the photo for a more detailed look, but there is only one stick included in auction.
The weakest parts of most training sticks is the loop that is used to attach the lash, and the method the loop is secured with. Please note these sticks are designed with a heavy leather loop and two independent wrappings of strong lacquered thread. This leather loop has proven to be more durable than any others we have tested. And the stiff thick leather loop is large enough that the lash can be attached and removed with minimum effort. Much better than the sticks with the tiny tight holes.
These sticks are essential for safe and quick ground work results.
As with most endeavors, the right tools for the job can make all the difference in ones success. These are the right tools for training horses of all ages. These tools will save time and increase ones safety.
These tools were designed for ease of training. Some tools just make training easier, and these tools lead the list.

    Halter sizing:
    1. Muzzle diameter — Measure ABOVE the muzzle, around the face where the halter would sit (about halfway between eyes and nose) then add 2".
    2. Measure from the front of the cheekbone to the back of the jaw (add or subtract 1/2" will fit).
    3. Measure from the throatlatch to the bottom of the muzzle where the lips meet. Divide number by 2. (1/2" range will fit)
    4. Measure where the halter would sit just below the cheekbone, up and over the poll (behind ears) and down to just below the cheekbone, then add 6".
    AVERAGE – 900-1,100#
    1. 26"
    2. 10"
    3. 8"
    4. Max 34"
You can adjust the fiador knot on these halters to get a better fit on each individual horse. To do this, you will need to adjust the fiador knot (found under the horse's chin, and right next to your snap). To adjust; #1) push the cords together on each side of the fiador knot to loosen the knot. Get the knot very loose for easier adjustment. #2 slide the fiador knot up or down as needed for size (usually up for the smaller horses). #3 pull cords back together to re-tighten the knot. Do not adjust while on the horse.
